Bicycling with Children on a Trailer Bike

By Nancy Sathre-Vogel

Bicycling with children can be even more fun on a trailer bike than in a trailer. It will depend on your child if she is big enough to ride a trailer bike. Most children will be able to graduate from a trailer to a trailer bike at around age 3 or 4.

A trailer bike (tag-along, trail-a-bike) is the next step up from a trailer. It is a one-wheeled contraption that hooks on to the back of your bike so your child can help you pedal. The basic requirement will be for her feet to reach the pedals - once she's that size, chances are she'll love being part of the team!

There are advantages and disadvantages of the trailer bike to consider:

Advantages:

Your child will struggle and sweat right along with you as you climb hills together as a team. When you reach the top, she will rejoice in the success - she knows she is not dead weight.

She can pedal when she wants. On the trailer bike, her pedals are independent of yours, so your child can pedal when she wants and take a break when she's tired.

Disadvantages:

In the trailer, it is easy to close the rain flap and keep the child protected from rain or cold. On the trailer bike, she is exposed to the elements.

Just like being lulled to sleep in a car, your child can easily fall asleep on her trailer bike. If you feel a jerking on your bike - stop!

Just as you can't grind up hills in a high gear, neither can she. Get a trailer bike with gears so your child can help you pedal up those killer hills.

Most likely, your child will love cycling with you on her trailer bike. It'll be a joy for both of you! - 32193

Many people are getting interested in fitness again. Because there are so many warnings and new information about bad health habits, exercise is coming back in a big way. A cycling bike is also called a stationary bike or recumbent bike. This is in reference to an exercise bike that doesn't move. It typically comes with two wheels and handle bars, a comfortable seat, pedals, gears, and a method of measuring how far its user has traveled.

Exercise bikes are convenient for home use because they do not take up as much room as a home fitness centre or expensive flexing machinery. An exercise bike is the same size as a normal bike, though it can be a bit bulkier if it has a lot of extra statistics measuring equipment. Even the bulkiest exercise bike can find a place inside the home.

A stationary bike at the gym will be one of the first things gym staff will introduce a newcomer exerciser to. Using this piece of equipment helps to pump up the body's systems, getting the blood going and the heart beating. An exercise bike is an essential part of cardiovascular training. It helps to burn off fat and calories and helps to increase the levels of oxygen in the blood before working out on other equipment.

Using a bike to exercise helps people maintain their motivation levels. Some people limit themselves in their training by finding any excuse to get out of their daily exercises. However, if someone has committed to using a bike, a stationary bike takes away excuses like weather.

Many people who use cycling bikes like the fact that though they are excellent for burning calories and getting rid of fat, they do not overly tax the mind. In many a gym, there is a separate room with treadmills and bikes and a television set hanging from the ceiling. While burning fat, it's possible to be entertained as well.

A good exercise bike will come with a well padded cushion, since users will spend a lot of time on it. It should also include a few important gadget like instruments as well. Speed is important, as people like to see their progress. Gears that can be switched to offer different degrees of difficulty also help people challenge themselves.

Some bikes can be fairly expensive. It all depends on what each person is looking for. Checking out a good cycling bikes review might help people to decide if they want to work out in the gym or at home, and what they really want from their bike. - 32193

Flat Bar Mens Road Bike Schwinn Volare

By John Doherty

I purchased Schwinn Volare bike a few days ago and can't be more pleased with the purchase. I think this bike is a great bike for beginners to use for commuting or recreational riding. Yes, you can get better, but not in the less than $250 or so range.

I personally bought Schwinn Volare to begin commuting to work and didn't want to put out a lot of money until I know for sure I will keep it up, later I can buy a new bike or upgrade the parts as they break. The short rides I've taken so far it rode very smooth, stopped very well, and the seat wasn't too bad for how hard it is.

Also it shifts well, the brakes are outstanding. The brakes adjust easily and exactly as to how you like them. Care should be taken until you are use to how well they will stop. This is not a competition bike. It is however a comfortable (with new seat) pleasant quality bike.

Assemblage was highly simple, and bicycle was available to ride without any other tuning of spokes, etc. Schwinn Volare bicycle is really very light at about 42 pounds with thin tires to pick up race quick. I love this bicycle, the shifting mechanism works precisely, easily to switch and bike ride very smooth.

It needed just a little adjustment to the derailers but that is normal for any new bike. Since then it's been running great and has needed nothing! Nice lightweight wheels and very decent entry level components make this a great value for the money, and the flat bar is very comfortable for city cruising!

All in the entire bike seems really solid, the welds on the frame are uniform, and the bike is very sharp. I give Schwinn Volare two thumbs up and highly recommend it. - 32193

Comfort Tandem Kent Dual Drive Bike

By John Doherty

Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike look really catchy. Compared to most bicycle-built-for-two which tend to be very long and big looking this one is much stylish with really nice design. It has silver fades into a gun-metal grey with a few red emphasizes and black holds, seats, tires, bottles etc...It's a good bike very nice looking.

Shifters are in the handle and smooth enough. One handle does the big shifting and the other handle fine tunes the shifting. The brakes are sufficient but not disc brakes but rather those little "v" brakes. Tires are large enough to give a smooth ride and in fact, were surprisingly easy to handle and navigate. You won't be taking quick turns with this as the bike is long but then again, it's not really designed with racing in mind.

The ride is smooth - much smoother than expected. Great cruiser. Can actually reach a decent speed but be sure to have plenty of braking space and don't take tight corners at the high speeds. All in all, a lot of fun for a couple with a terrific price. A wonderful bicycle! Set-up was straight forward and easy. Little adjustment needed for the derailleur or brakes. Many hours of enjoyment already spent on the bike. A great family edition. Lots of fun to ride. The ride is very smooth and the gear shift is very precise.

I am very enthusiastic bike rider. I have many miles have ridden on my road bicycle. I had some hesitations about the tandem bike especially for the price. It didn't disappoint me; I got exactly what I expected. The assemblage was easy and the bike performs extremely well. The shifting is a little tough, but acceptable, especially in this price range.

Also purchase of Kent Dual Drive Tandem bike is a good deal. The local bike stores had much more overpriced bicycles. They were as well not as good looking as this bicycle. The bike arrived with the front wheel, seats and the handgrip bars off, so I had to put them together but it didn't take me more than half an hour. Riding this bicycle is not hard at all compared to a normal mountain bicycle. You don't need to paddle it strong for it to run fast enough. The additional person on the back does not seem impact a lot the handling

Kent Dual Drive Tandem is not a master quality or overpriced bicycle...it is very much amended quality than most regular bicycles being sold-out there now and executes perfect on the road. Nevertheless super pleased with this deal. Smooth ride, great looking, holds up good over time. So if you're curious in all nice things of tandem cycling and want a bicycle to enjoy of, you can't go wrong with this one. Super bicycle for the money! - 32193

Road Bike GMC Denali

By Dave Williams

GMC Road bike should cost much more than it really did. Friend of mine couldn't believe when I told him the price. The gears are great .On down hill I hit 35 mph and reached 30 mph on level ground. The quality of this bike is just great and looks very solid.I have zero problems with shape quality. The welds appear safe, the bicycle looks safe, the seat tube fit very well. I was surprised how good the frame matches my 6'0" size.

My first feeling was that I got it problematic to have to reach down to use the brake system. I had used to that fast. My second impression was how elementary it was to go quick on this bike. The 63cm, black and silver Denali, rides actually quiet. I will tell that this bike is truly amazing for the price. I am indeed impressed with the quality for less than two hundred dollars.

I saw in a specialized bicycle store a bike appeared entirely exploited up that the seller wanted the price of three of the GMCs for. I realize I could have three new bikes, for the price of one bike that I wouldn't believe to get me round the block. I bought the Denali.Combine that with the aluminium frame, shimano derailleur and it executes really well. GMC Denali Road bike drives fast and appears really solid.

The seat is comfortable for a road bike, and the Denali pedals easily, making long rides a breeze. The kickstand is a welcomed addition (and removable for those who balk at kickstands). If you want a true bargain, have some tools/experience and are willing to tinker, get the Denali. It's a hoot to ride! The gear shifting appears to be fine overall to me, and conveniently placed on the handle bars. Because the bike is solid aluminum, it is fairly light and very durable.

The design of GMC seems to follow Ford Motor Company's "built tough" motto. So that's why the purchasers consider is that it is a bit heavier but stronger than different standard (bianchi, trek, giant) bikes. Unfortunately the price of some sort of composite: carbon and titanium frame bikes will cost you up $1500 new, at least)

Different aspect individuals will easy overlook is that the forks, unlike the frame, is built of steel so they're weightier than normal but this is because while aluminum is lighter than steel, it is too harder which would create for a bone jarring ride; the only real solution to this is to have 200-300$ completely carbon.

Overall I am very pleased with the bike GMC Denali. You just can't beat the price. The bike is lightweight, has very good gearing, and can be very fast. It goes better than it stops. Replacing several key components will improve the bike significantly. It is not perfect, but when you factor in the price, it is a great deal. - 32193

Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-Inch 3-Wheel Bike

By Dave Williams

Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel is a very good bicycle at a great price. This bike is extremely easy rolling and pedaling. With just one speed you can average 7 to 8 mph. It is comfortable and has an extremely large basket to carry shopping. It is a very sturdy bike, the frame is put together so well you can't image it ever failing due to build quality and as long as you put it together properly, it should last you a very long time.

Schwinn Meridian bicycle is a very smart created bicycle .The maneuvers on tight places Are smooth and easy. Riding in traffic is safety and not a problem at all. The bike has big basket which is huge convenient for shopping and sport activities .The feeling of balance on three wheels is amazing.

I am very happy with how sturdy it is and how easy it is to ride. I have two young healthy dogs that need a lot more exercise then I could give them. So I bought the bike to exercise them with and it is working out better than I could have ever hoped. The bike is very sturdy so if the dogs pull hard to one side it doesn't budge.

The brakes of Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel bike are just perfect and good working. You just need to share more time working on their adjustment. If you do that that's going to be good investment saving money to buy new pads.

The Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-Inch 3-Wheel Bike is great. It is a single speed bike that is well made and easy to pedal. It was easy to assemble.

Finally I would be glad to recommend Schwinn Meridian Adult 26-inch 3-Wheel bicycle to anyone. - 32193
